Very cool. How rich do you run these? If you had a blower explosion like the top fuel car and boats do, I can't see surviving that. They inject before and after the supercharger .. do you do the same?

Thanks Ian. Ya 1500HP on what amounts to being a unicycle would be way enough for me. Keep rubber side down, a tight grip on the bars, and good luck to ya.

Hi xennophelia, thanks for your interest. The first thing to say is that we are 100% certain of the power we run on each and every pass due to the fact we co developed with NCTE an onboard torque measurement device on our output shaft. This very device was introduced and adapted for Andersson Racing for their TF dragster and after we introduced it to John Force Racing it was later picked up by Schumacher so we are quite proud of our project. Anyhow we are in no way pushing the capabilities of our engine combo (like the cars do) and so can race an entire event without any need for tear down. It would be easy to develop a further 500 or so HP but then we would need the tear down regime the cars suffer and we can’t transfer the power to the track at ‘only’ 1500 HP as it is!

Ian - I've been all over the TF/FC vids where HP has been stated at anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000. I thought the higher numbers were embellished at it passed mouth to mouth, vid to vid. Appears tho that the Shumacher team installed a data acquisition coupler in the drive train and measured a true 11,000 HP ..

Curious as to why the top fuel bike's HP per liter (1500HP / 1.6L = 937 HP/L) is lower than TF/FC (11000HP / 8.1L = 1358 HP/L) when the DOHC valve train design is far superior (to hemi pushrod derivatives) with higher redline and lighter reciprocating components? Is it combustion chamber volume? Can you elaborate?
BTW it dawned on me later why the blown TF bikes have much less grenading .. DOHC (no pushrods to bend and hang valves) and with only one bank of cylinders to feed, much smaller intake manifolds (yes .. your "construction types").

Quite rich. The blower is in front of the engine but construction types of these bikes minimise any such mishaps. Yes a little before but most after.

I used to run Graham Nashe's riceburner Kawasaki in the 80s and now all my memories have just come back!

Is the throttle stop during back-up a required device...or just a damn good idea?

Ian King • 2 года назад
1bottlefed yes a rule we added some years ago after an unfortunate incident... 😥

how in the world can you stop without a chute?

wow, the 0-100 in 1.1 is hard to imagine....
I watched the video again a dozen times
and focused on different areas....
the acceleration really shows up when I watch the tree go flying by...
I suppose you must focus way down the track in order to maintain balance and lane position....
and I imagine the sensation of the run is more about the G forces
than how fast you pass by things.

0-60 mph in 0.7 secs, 0-100 in 1.1, 0-210 in 3.8 and 0-245 in 5.8

okay, I went back and reviewed the video and saw the chute at about 3:10 lying on the ground after the run. I can not imagine what it must be like to ride that monster. I once had a street bike with 125 hp that was rated 0-60 in 3.0 11.0 125mph 1/4....and I thought it was quick. I'm guessing you get to 125 in about 1.2 sec or so. You have a lot of courage.

Id love to sit in the saddle of one of those monsters one day.

Hi John, the rules stated that the cylinder bore spacing must be the same as an OEM, so limited to 6 cyl Honda or Kwak if you want more than 4. Also limit is 1700cc. I run 1585cc, some run even bigger.
